(PR.co.nz) Council is systematically working to clear the remaining rubble from Christchurch streets.
Over the past 48 hours, the focus has been the Sydenham shops and Riccarton Rd area with 100 tonnes of rubble removed from Colombo Street (Ascot TV, Churchill’s Tavern, and the chemist at Beckenham) last night and this morning. Decorative blockwork is being collected by hand, placed on pellets, shrinkwrapped and labelled for owners to collect and reuse at a later date.
Council is currently focusing on Tennyson and Colombo Streets with further rubble from these areas being removed today.
Rubble outside 441 Colombo St has also been cleared. Cordons around Threw the Keyhole at 276 -278 Colombo Street have been withdrawn and traffic flows are restored to normal. Rubble clearance will continue in this area.
