Exquisite Northland Lodge Experiences a Surge of Visitors

(PR.co.nz) While many Hokianga accommodation providers struggle with low shoulder season guest numbers, the Waiotemarama Falls Lodge, near Opononi, is experiencing a surge in their occupancy rate.

Although they’ve hosted guests from over 14 countries, most of the Lodge’s winter guests have been New Zealand families or couples looking for a break away from the city life. “Our guests are in awe of the peace, tranquility and comfort they find here.”, says Candy Pettus (owner and operator). “We’re enjoying repeat visits as our guests discover ‘the Hokianga region and all it has to offer.”, says Candy. Her partner, Rawiri Moetara (Ngapuhi), engages guests with the rich and significant Maori history of the area. No stranger to the hospitality trade, Rawiri offers a stunning range of catered meals for guests.

Nestled in native bush, the Lodge also boasts a resident kiwi, called Koro, who has so far avoided the camera. “We’re offering a complimentary night at the Lodge for the first guest to take a photo or video of Koro.”, says Rawiri. “There are dozens of holes left in the lawn each night and we expect he comes out around 4 am.”

With bookings rolling in for this new, locally-owned venture, hosts Candy and Rawiri will soon welcome their 100th guest since opening in 2008. Whoever it is, they’re sure to receive a special gift above and beyond the memories!
