(PR.co.nz) ‘The Party’ is the first single from four-piece British/American indie-rock outfit The Small Hours. The song, currently on New Zealand radio, features on The Small Hours’ new full-length record The Battle of Airstrip One, set for release 11 January 2011.
The Small Hours are Robin Goodchild – Vocals/Guitars, John Armstrong – Bass/Vocals, John Bennett – Guitar/Keys/Vocals, and Ed Shiers – Drums/Vocals. The single is to be the bands New Zealand radio debut.
The forthcoming album The Battle of Airstrip One is the product of over a year of shared existence; split between growing up and living in cold, wet England and sunny, dry Southern California. As its title might suggest, the 13 track album draws much influence from George Orwell’ s 1984 and although the band insist this isn’ t a concept album, the pseudo-futuristic, post-apocalyptic feel to the record certainly propels you down the broken streets of an Orwellian wasteland.
The Battle Of Airstrip One will be available worldwide in good record stores and digitally from 11 January 2011.
The Small Hours are here in New Zealand making a video to support the single. They are also set to head back to New Zealand shores in early 2011, so keep an eye out for live dates to be announced shortly!
