(PR.co.nz) For three weekends in May, 30 Coromandel artists will open their studios to the public for the 6th annual Great Coromandel Arts Tour. The annual open studio event, which includes artists from Thames at the base of the Peninsula, Coromandel Town and right up to the remote settlement of Colville, is a unique opportunity to meet local artists, find wonderful hidden art studios and get a taste of the creative process first hand.
Beginning at 10am on Friday May 6th, and running through to 4pm Sunday 22nd, visitors have exclusive access to seldom seen creative art studios, where our artists work in a myriad of styles; ceramics that the region is famous for, as well as painters, jewellers, glass artists, printmakers, textile artists and more.
Visitors will meet the artists and see them at work in their own creative environment. With a strong emphasis on the process behind the creation of artworks, the Arts Tour provides an opportunity to have a rich and satisfying art experience, to learn more about the story behind the work, and also to connect the art with the artist and the creative process.
Tickets to the event come in the form of a wonderful tour guide booklet, which contains artist profiles, maps to help find the studios and details about all the great events, workshops and exhibitions running in conjunction with the Arts Tour. Tour guide booklets will cost just $15, and can be purchased from The Source in Coromandel town, Mosaic gallery in Whitianga, or online at www.coromandelartstour.org.nz. these will go on sale after easter.
The Great Coromandel Arts Tour is a part of the Homegrown Festival, a month long celebration of the food, art, music and culture of the Coromandel.
