Hundreds Queue For Free Pizza at Domino's Newest Store

(PR.co.nz) Pizza lovers gathered in their hundreds in Wellington on Sunday as Domino’s Pizza celebrated the opening of its newest store in Newtown.

Franchisee Tony Li and his team worked tirelessly as they gave away nearly 700 Hawaiian pizzas in just two hours at the new store on Riddiford Street.

And while there was a steady queue for the entire two-hour period, a little bit of extra help from nearby stores meant that no one waited more than 10 minutes for their taste buds to be satisfied.

Mr Li, who also owns Domino’s stores in Wellington central, Miramar and Northlands, says the launch was a huge success.

He says the number of people who turned up well exceeded his expectation of 500 people.

“We were trying to work out a good special to do for our opening, and then we thought that instead of charging a really low price for a pizza, we’d go one step further and just give them away,” he says.

“We had a lot of fun and everyone who came along enjoyed it too – they were all chatting to each other while they waited and everyone went away with smiles on their faces.”

Mr Li says Sunday’s official opening marks the start of what he hopes will be an excellent relationship with the Newtown community.

“We’re thrilled to be part of this wonderful neighbourhood and we’re confident that the success of our opening is the first step towards building great ties with our customers and doing great things here,” he says.
