(PR.co.nz) A cacophony of colour-seeking harmony with Black Eyed Peas soundtracks simulcast on Breeze FM – this how organisers describe the Guy Fawkes Night on the Pier on 5 November.
Sponsored by Christchurch arborists TreeTech, the 10-minute fireworks spectacular from Fireworks International will launch from the New Brighton Pier. However viewers from as far as Sumner can listen to the tracks accompanying the display on The Breeze at 94.5 FM.
Guy Fawkes celebrations at New Brighton have traditionally been simulcast live on radio to allow Port Hills residents and Christchurch hi-rise dwellers the benefit of getting the sound track of the spectacular fireworks as they watch from their faraway vantage points.
This year, the Christchurch City Council is urging visitors to the New Brighton beaches not to bring their own fireworks to the 5 November event.
Council Events production team manager Mark Hadlow says “Please save your money, and come and enjoy our show. I promise this display will more than cater for your enthusiasm for fireworks. And you will be doing a great service to your fellow revellers by not letting off fireworks on the beaches.’’
“It will be a cacophony of colours on that Friday, especially with Fireworks International trying to outdo itself this year,” says Mr Hadlow.
Extra buses will run to and from key destinations. Check out http://www.metroinfo.co.nz for more information. For easy parking, the Rawhiti Domain will be open and for a gold coin donation ,visitors can park a short distance from the beach.
The event is brought to you by Christchurch City Council with the support of Treetech, The Breeze and The Star.
