(PR.co.nz) Harris Mountains Heli-Ski, New Zealand’s premier heli-ski company, has been recognised at the Outdoors New Zealand 2012 Awards, taking out top spot in the ‘Adventure Tourism’ Category.
The awards ceremony was held last Friday evening in Wellington and highlighted the best in outdoor recreation, education and adventure tourism. Founded in 1997, Outdoors New Zealand is a non-profit organisation and has the aim of seeing New Zealanders enjoy positive outdoor recreation. The awards were established to recognise excellence in specific fields, such as Educational Programmes, Environmental Leadership and Adventure Tourism.
“It was a great honour for Harris Mountains Heli-Ski to be recognised by our industry peers’ stated Dean Staples, Harris Mountains Heli-Ski Chief Guide. “The HMH team are all passionate about heliskiing and take great pleasure in guiding clients in the Southern Alps of New Zealand”. The award was judged against set criteria and Harris Mountains Heli-Ski was able to demonstrate excellence in staff culture, engagement with the community, environmental awareness and the provision of positive outdoor experiences.
Harris Mountain Heli-Ski has been in operation for over 30 years and has some of the best ski terrain available throughout the Southern Alps, allowing them to offer an unrivalled product for the enjoyment of heli-skiers and snowboarders. The exclusivity and expansiveness of the ski terrain offered is backed up by a team of guides who are all leaders in their fields, led by Dean, who has climbed Everest a staggering 8 times. It is this commitment to excellence and the outdoors environment which has set Harris Mountains Heli-Ski apart from other providers. “We simply love what we do and strive to provide the best possible experience for our clients, which is why many come back year after year. Many of our clients are now good friends. We have clients who have been with us every season for over 20 years!” states Mr Staples. “2012 was a great season and we look forward to 2013 when we can take more clients into the Southern Alps heliskiing”.
