JCI Christchurch Launches as Christchurch Rebuilds

(PR.co.nz) While many Christchurch residents are focused on the rebuild of their beloved city, a group of dedicated young people are working hard to launch JCI Christchurch, an initiative that will ensure that tomorrow’s leaders are developed today, while also ensuring that the new Christchurch is the best it can be.

Scheduled to be held at the Westpac Business Hub on April 20, the admission-free event will see community leaders, including a number of local MP’s, convene with Christchurch young people as JCI Christchurch is officially launched, giving all present the opportunity to sign up. Speakers for the night include a special guest from JCI International, a former JCI New Zealand president, and Student Volunteer Army founder, Sam Johnson.

JCI Christchurch is a local chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI); a worldwide non-profit organisation dedicated to giving young people between the ages of 18-40 personal and professional development opportunities, empowering them to create positive change in their local community. With over 200,000 members in over 100 countries, JCI is one of the largest youth-development organisations, and on the evening of April 20, it is officially coming to Christchurch.

The mission of JCI Christchurch is simply to inspire young people to create positive change in the Christchurch community by engaging them in grassroots volunteer projects, while also giving them practical public speaking, project managing and other professional skills.
