Stronger Christchurch Update Following Earthquake (22 October)

(PR.co.nz) The Christchurch City Council, alongside other agencies, continues to work on the recovery phase following the 4 September earthquake.
This is focused on the key tasks around infrastructure, welfare, buildings, natural environment, business and rural issues. The Council has been in direct contact with those worst affected as well as keeping the community informed through paid advertising, public meetings, website updates, leaflet and letter drops, house and business visits.

Council silt collection to wind down
Residents with silt and sand to be collected are asked to contact the Council (weekdays Ph 941 8999) by Monday 1 November to ensure collection. Please pile the silt and sand on the roadside (rather than on grass berms).
Anyone needing help to move silt or sand to the roadside is also asked to call the Council as soon as possible so arrangements can be made for a volunteer or helper to shift it to the roadside for collection.

The Council will organise a final pick-up of material during the first week of November. After this time, residents will need to take silt and sand to EcoDepots for disposal and to keep receipts to include in their EQC claim.
