(PR.co.nz) The annual Pride Awards ceremony provides an opportunity for exceptional young people from the Wellington region to be recognised for their achievements and contributions to their community. The focus of the awards is on young people who are often unrecognised for their achievements. By rewarding their achievements we aim to give these young people the recognition they deserve and put them into the spotlight so that they can inspire their peers and the wider community.
There are six award categories, with a Junior (5-12 years old) and a Senior Award (13-17 years old) for each category. The Award categories are:
• Youth Leadership and Team Work Award – awarded to a young person who shows consistent strong, positive leadership skills, and works well with others by demonstrating patience, good listening skills and respect.
• Creative Achievement and Innovation Award – awarded to a young person who can demonstrate innovation or creative expression and original ideas in the arts or in science and technology.
• Community First Award – awarded to a young person who demonstrates an outstanding level of involvement in the local community.
• Courage in Adversity Award – awarded to a young person who has courageously tackled and conquered difficult situations.
• Carers Award – awarded to a young person who goes out of their way help out and takes care of family members and/or others in their community.
