Christchurch TV2 KidsFest

(PR.co.nz) The biggest-ever TV2 KidsFest box office opens this weekend.

TV2 Kidsfest is New Zealand’s most popular annual children’s festival. Aimed at kids aged 3 to 12 (and their parents), there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in New Zealand.

This year the TV2 KidsFest mascot Cool Stuff “goes country” with events that bring the rural and urban worlds together during the two-week winter school holidays festival.

The programme brochure features 223 fun events – the greatest number in TV2KidsFest’s 19-year history.

Christchurch City Council’s TV2 KidsFest coordinator Paul Kean says improvements have been made so that the popular festival is easier to book. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketek, the Court Theatre (for Arts Centre-based events) and directly through some event organizers. More information is in the programme brochure.

An average of 70,000 kids attend the 14-day winter-holiday festival.

This year’s free public events include the grand opening of TV2 KidsFest on Saturday, 3 July – The Breeze Lantern Parade. Earlier in the day, kids will be able to learn to make their own lanterns at workshops at the Christchurch Art Gallery. Details can be found on the Gallery’s Holiday Programme webpage (www.christchurchartgallery.org.nz). Other public events include Tall Tales for All Shapes and Sizes, Tea with Alice, The Press Dogs’ Day Out and the return of Singapore Airlines Starfest.
