NZSO Chief Executive Awarded for Contribution to Polish Culture

(PR.co.nz) Peter Walls, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Executive will be presented with the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland tonight.
The ceremony will take place at the residence of the Polish Ambassador to New Zealand, Mrs Beata Stoczynska.

Peter Walls has been hugely involved in the promotion of Polish music across the country. It is thanks to his commitment and passion for music, that New Zealand had yet another chance to hear the music of Poland’s greatest composers, such as Chopin, Szymanowski, Lutoslawski or Penderecki. Peter proved to be invaluable in the organization of Chopin Year 2010 in New Zealand.

Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis is a decoration in Arts awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland to persons and organizations for distinguished contributions to, or protection of the Polish culture and art abroad and strengthening cultural relations between Poland and other countries.
