Scrattch has Gone Global

(PR.co.nz) Queenstown based start up Scrattch has today been named as one of the only New Zealand companies to gain a place in the StartUp Open “GEW 50”.

Startup Open recognizes the global ‘GEW 50’ – 50 of the most promising ventures from around the world, which are selected by a range of criteria including strength of concept, growth projections, and knowledge of the market.

The 50 companies selected then go on to compete for prizes with the winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to Rio de Janeiro where they will receive VIP delegate credentials to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in March 2013.

The GEC brings together entrepreneurs, investors, global leaders and startup champions from more than 100 counties. As part of the experience, the Startup Open winner will have the opportunity to: showcase their startup on a global scale; gain valuable insight from successful and experienced entrepreneurs; hear from and meet world leaders, economists and other experts regarding programs, policies and research aimed at advancing entrepreneurship; and, experience all Rio has to offer that makes it an emerging hub for innovation and creativity.

Last year the winning company, Fenugreen won an all expenses paid trip to Liverpool for the 2012 GEC to meet Richard Branson and tell the story of their company to over 300 International delegates.

Scrattch founders Louise Donnelly- Davey, Colin Burns and Matt Tester are said to be very excited with the announcement and are extremely grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such an amazing global event.
