Novotel Queenstown Lakeside Hosts Australian Sunrise

(PR.co.nz) Queenstown’s snow-capped scenery was enjoyed in more than one million Aussie homes today, as Novotel Queenstown Lakeside played host to Australian breakfast television show, Sunrise, during their very first New Zealand live broadcast.

June 20th is the second and final day Sunrise will film live from Queenstown, joined by 60 lucky Sunrise viewers who have been enjoying the scenery and adventure activities on offer in one of New Zealand’s best-loved tourism destinations.

Live action filming began with the Sunrise Cash Cow – following a three-day lead up of live weather crosses from South Island’s locations such as Mt Hutt, Tekapo, Mackenzie, Remarkables and Wanaka.

The two-day special location broadcast also coincides with today’s launch of the 40th annual American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, currently taking in Queenstown until 29 June.

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside General Manager Jim Moore said the Sunrise team’s visit was perfectly timed with recent snowfalls, and that he and his team were excited to partner with Sunrise and Tourism New Zealand to promote the region’s alpine wonderland to Australian travellers and families interested in an unforgettable winter resort experience.

“We’re off to a great ski season with early snowfalls this month, so the Sunrise team and their 60 lucky viewers are sure to experience Queenstown in its element.”

During their stay, Sunrise viewers have been treated to an exclusive welcome function at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside, and trivia dinner with Sunrise hosts David Koch, Samantha Armytage, Mark Beretta, Natalie Barr and Edwina Bartholomew. In addition, they have enjoyed the remote Skippers Canyon, dined at Amisfield Winery & Bistro overlooking Lake Hayes, and sipped cocktails amid 18 tonnes of ice architecture at Minus 5 ICEBAR.

The partnership between Accor, Tourism New Zealand and Seven Network was secured through Tourism New Zealand Australia, following the launch of Tourism New Zealand’s latest ‘More magic in every day’ winter advertising campaign, developed to encourage Australians to discover winter adventures in New Zealand.

To celebrate Sunrise’s visit to Queenstown, Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is offering a special accommodation package that includes a free Shotover Jet Boat ride for two people when staying minimum 3 nights. Booking period starts today and ends 27 June 2014, for stays from 21 June to 31 October 2014. Conditions apply. To Book visit www.accorhotels.com/sunrise.

In addition, travellers can enjoy up to 30% off at all of Accor’s four Queenstown hotels: Novotel Queenstown Lakeside, Mercure Resort Queenstown, Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa, and Hotel St Moritz Queenstown, which is a member of the MGallery Collection. Special rates are available New Zealand wide for holidaymakers interested in exploring more of the country’s beautiful winter scenery.
