(PR.co.nz) Come to Boo at the Zoo if you dare.
For one night a year, Auckland Zoo transforms into spook central with enchanted gardens and magical markets for Boo at the Zoo on Saturday, 30 October from 6pm to 9pm.
All creatures great and small are invited to share a night of frightfully fun adventures as you make your way through Halloween-themed stops on the Twilight Walk. There will be treats to collect along the way and surprises around each corner with fairies, witches, pirates and more.
The Band Rotunda is the place to park your broom for the night and groove to live entertainment with the Boo Band, while enjoying the Freaky Fashion Stage where there will be prizes for best costumes throughout the evening.
Categories for the Freaky Fashion competition are “weird and wonderful”, “scariest spook”, “creature of the night”. The overall prize for best dressed will be won by a costume made from recycled materials. Make sure you get dressed up!
For those who build up a monster appetite during the evening, Darwin’s Café will be serving up ghoulish Halloween treats, and for the less adventurous, there will be a barbecue all night.
Boo at the Zoo is supported by Classic Hits 97.4FM.
Visit Auckland Zoo for more information.
Tips for making a recycled Halloween costume:
* think about what you have that can be reused, like old clothes
* the home office is a great starting point for shredded paper, cardboard and coloured paper
* the kitchen is a great source of materials such as rubbish bags, milk bottles and egg cartons
* use decorative flowers and fronds from the garden to add colour and texture
* mum’s make-up and water-based paints are great for fake tattoos and face paint
* make props like swords and wands from scrap wood or toilet rolls
