(PR.co.nz) New Zealand natural wood specialist Abodo Wood has scooped up the Green Economy Award at this year’s Green Ribbon Awards.
Abodo’s range of preservative free, locally grown cladding products were noted as influential in a drive towards sustainable, cradle to cradle building materials.
Of particular note was Abodo’s Elements Vulcan+ and Elements Tundra timber weatherboards, both of which are locally grown, FSC certified and free from chemical preservatives.
“It is fantastic to receive some recognition for the healthy wood products in our Elements range, but we feel more work is required to reduce New Zealand’s dependence on imported wood species of dubious sustainability. In addition, we feel the more education is required for New Zealanders on wood preservatives and their effect on people and the environment” stated Daniel Gudsell, a Director at Abodo.
The Green Ribbon Awards, held by the Ministry for the Environment recognise the outstanding contributions made by individuals, organisations, businesses and communities to protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s environment.
Past Green Ribbon Award winners include Villa Maria Estate, West Coast Blue Penguin Trust, Yealands and Resene Paints.
Abodo Wood is one of the first wood product companies to be recognised under the Green Ribbon Award.
