KidsCan and Domino's Unite to Help Kiwi Kids

( KidsCan children’s charity will be given a funding boost when it joins forces with Domino’s pizza in a unique initiative to raise funds for some of New Zealand’s underprivileged children.

The KidsCan charity runs a number of programmes to meet the basic physical and nutritional needs of pupils in 211 Kiwi schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill, with a further 98 schools on the waiting list for assistance.

Domino’s hopes to raise around $10,000-$15,000 in just one day for the charity, with the introduction of a national Doughraiser.

Scheduled to take place on April 16th, Domino’s will be donating $1 from every pizza sold as part of the national Doughraiser. The funds will be used across a number of the charity’s community programmes including; ‘Raincoats for Kids’, ‘Shoes for Kids’, and ‘Food for Kids’, which help youngsters in low decile schools.

It’s not the first time Domino’s has come to KidsCan’s aid, last year the company handed over a donation of $10,000 after another pizza company pulled out of a charitable initiative.

Domino’s Pizza New Zealand General Manager, Josh Kilimnik, says the company is pleased to once again be working with such a valued charity.

He says although Domino’s Doughraisers have traditionally been run by individual Domino’s stores to support local charities, the latest initiative will for the first time, see all Domino’s stores coming together for the good of New Zealand children.

“At Domino’s we strongly believe in giving back to the community and lending a helping hand where we can, that’s why our stores are always happy to assist local community groups, charities, schools and sporting clubs with their fundraising needs,” says Kilimnik.

“The Domino’s Dough Raiser has the potential to raise a significant amount of money for KidsCan – it’s one day across New Zealand where all of our Domino’s stores will work together to raise between $10,000 and $15,000 for KidsCan.”

Julie Helson, CEO and Founder of the KidsCan Charitable Trust, says KidsCan is thrilled Domino’s is holding a national Doughraiser to support KidsCan programmes.

Helson says partnerships such as these are essential in helping the charity continue its work to assist the more than 270,000 New Zealand children who live in poverty – one in every four children.

“Funds with the generous help of our sponsors ensures the continuity of our programmes. Thousands of Kiwi kids miss out on food, clothing and a standard of living adequate for their health and well-being. The team at KidsCan are committed to levelling the playing field for New Zealand children less fortunate than others so they can go to school and reach their full potential,” says Helson.

“KidsCan supports the education of children less fortunate than others in more than 200 low decile schools throughout New Zealand and the funds raised by each Domino’s store Doughraiser will really benefit children at a local level,” she says.

“Domino’s is a company that clearly cares about the wellbeing of the children we support and we really value our partnership.”

Kilimnik says he hopes to be able to offer further Doughraisers for the charity during the year.
