(PR.co.nz) Made4 Baby battles heroes in small business for top spot.

The 2010 finalists in the The David Awards: heroes in small business have been named. Made4Baby is proud to announce they have been selected as a finalist in the Most inspired use of technology category. This category refers to a business which leverages technology in many guises to enhance efficiency, mobility and keep overheads to a minimum.

Made4Baby has worked with a number of technology business to ensure all the processes in the business are as flexible as possible. A combination of Telecom services, Xero accounting software, Unleashed Inventory software & Warpfusion software for the www.made4baby.co.nz online store have meant owner of Made4Baby, Rebecca McLeod is able to run the office efficiently wherever she is in the world.

“As a small home business who exports products to the world with only me as the full time employee, stream lining all my processes and providing flexible working solutions is extremely important to Made4Baby’s success. Telecom and web based services allow me to do this extremely efficiently from anywhere I chose to be”

On recent business trips to Tokyo & Hong Kong to look at distribution options and catch up with current distributors for her natural skincare business for babies and children, Rebecca was able to function from both cities in the same way as she could from her office at home. “It was unbelievably easy, I just logged in on my Telecom T-stick via Mobile Broadband and I was able to process invoices online, answer emails and manage any website orders. I also have 2 small children, so the technology also means that if I’m at the playground, I’m not worried about anything urgent, as it will pop through on my phone.” And Made4Baby isn’t stopping there, Rebecca says “I am loving the web-based services such as Xero so much that I have recently started working with Unleashed, online stock-management system, which works in with Xero to make sure we have completely control of our stock levels.”

Rebecca is proud to have been chosen as a finalist in the David Awards, and is also excited to see that one of the online retailers of Made4Baby, the Sleep Store is also a finalist in a different category

The David Awards recognise the unsung heroes in home and small businesses throughout New Zealand. Just like David taking on Goliath in the Bible, the tenacity, courage and ingenuity of these business owners help them punch well above their weight and place them firmly at the forefront of entrepreneurship in this country.

Organizer of the Awards, Heather Douglas, says, “Typically, small and micro businesses are very diverse and the judges commented on how broad a range of businesses entered the awards this year. It is fantastic to see some really exciting businesses in the spotlight. They have worked hard to achieve success and they deserve the recognition now.”

Category winners and a Supreme Award will be announced on the 6th of October. A podcast of the winners will be available for download at www.thedavidawards.co.nz.
