Ngaruawahia and Huntly Best Garden Competition Winners

(PR.co.nz) Forty people won prizes in the Ngaruawahia and Huntly Best Garden Competitions for 2010.

With a record number of first time entrants, competition was strong within the ten garden categories.

Lianne van den Bemd, Waikato District Council’s Safer Communities Co-ordinator and one of the judges for the Ngaruawahia Garden Competition, said the quality of this year’s entries was very high.

“It was fantastic to see such diverse gardens. From children’s gardens to first- year gardens to established ones, this is what this competition is all about, encouraging people to be creative and try new things in their gardens,” she said.

The Best Garden Competition is an annual event sponsored by the local Community Board and the Waikato District Council. Competitions are run in the Ngaruawahia, Huntly and Raglan community board areas.
