(PR.co.nz) Northland children are set to benefit from a new partnership between Sport Northland and Sanitarium, one of the country’s largest health food manufacturers, who will bring a new sporting event to the region.
The event, which is part of the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, will give Northland children the opportunity to participate in the world’s largest under-16 triathlon series.
Sport Northland Chief Executive, Brent Eastwood says he is thrilled to partner with a brand which encapsulates Kiwi values and cares about the health and wellbeing of New Zealand children.
“The new event presents an exciting opportunity for the region, the resources Sanitarium are injecting will help us encourage hundreds of Northland children to get involved in a high profile sporting event for the first time.”
The General Manager of Sanitarium, Pierre van Heerden, says he is pleased the Northland community will now be involved in one of New Zealand’s best known and best loved events.
“It’s very exciting to see Northland get a Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon of its own. We have had a lot of requests from the north and far north over the past few years to run an event in this region. We are pleased that with the support of Sport Northland we are now able to offer the opportunity for Northland children to be able to participate in the iconic triathlon series,” he says.
Van Heerden says the Northland region has previously had 12 successful years with the Ray White Kids Triathlon, the last one taking place earlier this year. The first triathlon was held in 2004, with hundreds of Northland kids taking part.
Sanitarium hope those who previously participated in the Ray White Kids Triathlon will take part in this exciting new event.
WIth a significant amount of interest in the new TRYathlon and with just 1,000 places available, children and schools should register quickly.
