Police Requesting Public Assistance with Murder Investigation

(PR.co.nz) Wellington Police investigating the brutal murder of Matthew Hall last week have received a good response from the public but more help is sought.

The 35 year old was found dead in his bed at home in Broderick Road, Johnsonville around 6:15pm on Tuesday 15 February 2011. He died as a result of a ferocious attack.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard, acting officer in charge of Operation Broderick says there has been a number of calls to the free phone number 0508 BRODERICK since it was launched last week.

“Officers conducting an area canvas in the vicinity of Broderick Road have also received lots of useful information, however, Police are keen to piece together Matthew Hall’s movements on Valentines Day (Monday 14 February 2011).”

Donna Howard says whilst Police know Mr Hall went to Woolworths in Johnsonville about 11:15pm on the evening of Valentines Day, Police aren’t sure what he spent the earlier part of the day doing.

“If anyone saw Mr Hall or his car, a blue 2002 Toyota Corolla hatchback, registration number ASG960, we really want to hear from you.”

She says, “As we said last week, it will be members of the public who help Police solve this investigation.”

A funeral service for Matthew Hall will be held tomorrow in Wellington. Media are asked to respect the privacy of the Hall family at this difficult time.
