(PR.co.nz) Mangakino is about to experience a unique and exciting event in WAKEdUP = wakefest 2011.
With the biggest acts in New Zealand Drum and Bass WAKEdUP can stand alone as a music festival. With the of Wakeboarding, Skateboarding, BMX Freestyle, MotoX and Skydiving the festival takes a new perspective of excitement and fun.
In March 2010 M-I-A Wakefest planted the idea of an alternative sports event with music modeled on a successful European concept. The Wakefest was specifically about wakeboarding and highlighted the Managakino area in the Taupo district as a beautiful and suitable area for extreme and alternative sports events and people.
“This event is going to go off in so many ways” says Event Producer Monty Morgan “where else do you get two nights of quality music, free camping and a whole heap of exciting sports stuff in one place?”
“We’re very proud of our New Zealand music and our sports people” continues Monty.
MC Mana of Salmonella Dub and Mount Eden Dubstep says “The line up on this is on par with the biggest DnB acts and the outdoor festival environment will be unique to the North Island… I can’t wait! The only reason the Mt Eden crew were not on was because we had bookings in the US but I decided to stay behind to represent hard!”
The Taupo District is now the alternative sports capital of New Zealand and Mangakino is at the physical center of the North Island so we couldn’t imagine a better place for it” says Event Producer Audrey Holyoake.

Friday 18th Feb’ at noon the gates will be open & the party will start that evening… we’ll play for 48 hours until Sunday noon with a whole lot of event action & entertainment to keep you vibed the whole time!!!
