(PR.co.nz) With a focus of getting out and experiencing Christchurch, KBC Tours is celebrating that the city is alive and open. Offerings tourists and visitors with an easy and affordable way to see the expansive views from the Port Hills, experience the cultural vibe of Lyttleton, get their feet wet in the sand and surf of South Shore and New Brighton while getting out and experiencing what Christchurch has to offer, KBC Tours is looking forward to guiding many tourists around the garden city.
Focusing on ‘mountains to sea’, owner of KBC Tours Chris Voisin stated “since the earthquakes and the media attention around the seismic events, we have seen a physical change in the way that tourists behave in Christchurch. Where they used to spend multiple days in the city, we have found that they are tending to stay in their accommodation, either waiting for connecting transport to the rest of the South Island, or for their return flights home”. Furthermore, in conversations with backpackers in Christchurch, there is a general consensus that they are unsure about what activities and attractions are open. Voisin stated that “in many informal interviews with backpackers and backpacker accommodation managers, bringing Christchurch to the tourist would be an innovative way of driving business for KBC Tours”
In response to these trends in tourist behaviour, KBC Tours devised a strategy to inform the tourists of the tour at the location of accommodation, while providing a time format that fits well with their travel plans. Taking the advice on board, backpackers became the focus of market testing, with complimentary trips being offered on the tour and information obtained in terms of the experience, pricing and routes and activities. From this, the tour has been adopted to deliver a 2-½ hour adventure with multiple stops for short walks, photo opportunities and even a cup of hot Milo.
Voisin emphasised that the support and cooperation from the backpacker accommodation market and the I-Site in Christchurch has been fantastic, certainly contributing to the future success of the business. Although in its early days, expansion is already in mind with plans to include evening tours in the summer months to catch the magnificent sunset vistas over Christchurch, while pausing for an iconic Kiwi fish and chip meal.
Operating from Monday the 5th of September, tours with be departing at 9am and 1pm daily, with pick-up and drop-offs at a range of Christchurch backpackers. KBC Tours is looking forward to soon be delighting tourists from around the world, highlighting the best that Christchurch still has to offer.
