Amber Griffin Global Release of Limited-Edition Artwork

(PR.co.nz) Rapidly rising acclaimed photographic artist, Wellington’s Amber Griffin, is on the edge of launching her career internationally with a booming commercial business, her first global release of a time-limited edition artwork, and the arrival in early August of Ted, her new son with partner, Matt Nixon.

“It’s a lot to fit in for sure, but it’s just a matter of staying organised – and energised,” laughs Amber. “Matt has instantly become an incredible dad, and has always been an amazingly supportive partner, so he helps to keep everything running smoothly while I juggle baby time with business time.”

Amber’s Alayna Rosé artwork was entered into the Commercial category of the 2016 NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) Iris Awards and received a rare Gold Distinction Award. Together with three other prints entered, the Alayna Rosé image helped Amber to win the category and be named both the 2016 Commercial Photographer of the Year and the 2016 Wellington Regional Photographer of the Year. Amber was also recently awarded the Gold medal for the Commercial category and the Highest Scoring Print at the 2015 World Photographic Cup in Montpellier, France. Her first fine art solo exhibition launched in Wellington at Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art in August 2015, supported by Jackson Estate.

About the artwork

This beautifully feminine artwork of one of New Zealand’s most acclaimed ballerinas, Alayna Ng, provides a vivid sense of inspiration, energy and grace, and has been released to a global market of fine photographic art collectors. Printed on smooth cotton rag, a fine art paper with a velvety matt finish, this edition is not numbered but instead individually signed by Amber and emboss-sealed with her stamp of authenticity.

Sized at 25 inches wide x 20 inches high, the award-winning fine art print can be purchased directly from www.ambergriffin.co.nz for just $450 NZD including free delivery, anywhere in the world (NZ customers: GST is included). Sales for Alayna close at midnight on 31 October 2016.

“This project has been an incredible amalgamation of so many of my personal passions; art, dance, wine, garment construction and of course photography!” says Amber. “Jackson Estate, my sponsor on this project, were brave enough to give me complete creative freedom to produce a dance-based artwork inspired by their Pinot Rosé varietal and it has become the most joyful project I have ever undertaken.”

“Alayna and I have known each other for a very long time as we grew up dancing at the same Hutt Valley competitions throughout our childhood and we went to school together. The idea for this collaboration was inspired by another image of Alayna from my Exhibition. I custom made the enormous, multi-layered skirt that she is wearing in this image the night before the shoot – I always work best under pressure!” laughs Amber. “I did create the garment with exactly this pose in mind however, once we got the shot I was thrilled to see that it looked even better in reality than in my imagination.”

“Alayna is a very special dancer to photograph because of the incredible balance she possesses between her stunning muscularity and beautifully delicate femininity – she is also an incredibly lovely person and such a perfect fit to illustrate the most feminine of wine varietals, the Rosé.”

Alayna Ng is now in her tenth year of a full time, professional dance career. She receives regular critical acclaim for her many national performances and recently performed on tour throughout the UK and Europe.

“The most rewarding part about being a dancer would be performing on stage after the constant rehearsals,” says Alayna. “Through dance, we are trying to tell a story so it’s all about the emotion between me and my partner. It’s euphoric, an absolute joy and pleasure to be on stage every single time.”
