McRaeway Homes Support Caroline Bay Aquatic Centre

(PR.co.nz) McRaeway Homes is proud to be supporting the local community through contributing towards the development of the Caroline Bay Aquatic Centre.

The Caroline Bay Aquatic Centre is one of the Timaru District’s biggest projects in recent times and will cost $23.5 million to build.

Although the Timaru District Council has committed approximately 2/3 of the capital funding, the Aquatic Supporters Club has been formed to secure over $1.2 million from local businesses and the general public.

To help reach this figure for the Aquatic Supporters Club, McRaeway Homes has arranged to team up with related trades to build a 130 square metre re-locatable home from scratch within a 48 hour time frame during the Timaru Herald Home Show in March 2011.

The re-locatable home has been specifically designed for the project, and will come with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and be completed with internal decor and furnishings.

Upon completion the re-locatable home will be open for public viewing before being auctioned, with all the net proceeds gonig towards the Aquatic Centre. Proceeds from the sale of this re-locatable home are anticipated to be between $150,000 – $250,000.

It is envisioned that once built, the new Aquatic Centre will provide a hub for sporting, recreation and leisure pursuits, as well as entertainment and social gatherings for all age groups in the local community. The pool will also be a major draw card for visitors to the region.

The Caroline Bay Aquatic Centre is scheduled to open in July 2012, with upwards of 250,000 projected annual visits to the pool, or over 5,000 visits per week.
