John Key Supports Ice Fernz

(PR.co.nz) The Ice Fernz, the New Zealand Women’s Ice Hockey team, have asked a number of Celebrities, Sports Stars and Public Figures to take a photo of themselves wearing a limited Edition Ice Fernz scarf, in order to show their support for the team. One of the first to show his support, and send in a photograph, was the New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key.

The Ice Fernz have their Division II World Championships at home, in Auckland this year, against teams such as Australia and Slovenia. If the Ice Fernz win this tournament, they will break into the top 20 in the world and have a real shot at qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics, for the first time in New Zealand history. These photographs of support are giving the girls a real boost in their preparations for the Championships.

After thrashing the Canterbury Junior Elite League in Christchurch last month 8-1, as part of their preparations, the Ice Fernz are now challenging an Auckland All Stars team in an exhibition game on the 9th March, at 4:45pm.

To back the girls in their quest for victory, the team are asking as many people as possible to come to this exhibition game or one of their World Championship games in Auckland at the Botany ice rink and get your photo taken with the team. The games are to be held on:

8 April, 8:00pm v Poland
9 April, 8:00pm v Italy
11 April, 8:00pm v Australia
12 April, 8:00pm v Hungary
14 April, 4:30pm v Slovenia
