Kiwi Crowned World Champion at Body Painting Festival

(PR.co.nz) Since 1998, the three day event has been held annually in Austria’s colourful town of Seeboden, situated on the shore of Lake Millstatt. Bringing together contestants from over 40 nations, the 2010 festival saw Yolanda achieve victory over the worlds very best.

“It’s a really fantastic feeling not to only have won 1st place in the world, but also to have made it with my amazing Body FX team. It took a lot of hard work, and hours of preparation, but I was quietly confident after winning the U.S. competition earlier this year,” Yolanda said, emerging victorious from the competition.

Accompanied by Body FX and world renowned Brazilian air-brush artist Alex Hansen, Yolanda’s design ‘Armageddon Day’ was the decisive entry in her campaign. Resembling a war-plane from World War II, Yolanda’s model entered the stage bearing a mixture of intricate designs representing different religions of the world, as well as war-related paraphernalia, including prosthetic rockets and bullets. With the design, Yolanda brought to life the central idea that we, as humans, have used religion as a source of power for war.

Of course, Yolanda is no stranger to body-painting success, having racked up a series of awards in recent years. In Seeboden 2008, she picked up silver overall at the world festival, and in 2009, first prize for the Special FX Makeup category. Her stocks increased considerably following the 2010 Face and Body Art International Convention (FABAIC) held in Orlando, Florida, which saw Yolanda take out first place at North Americas most prestigious event.

Yolanda’s performance in Seeboden not only marks an accomplishment of her own ambitions, but well-deserved exposure for her company Body FX, co-owned by mother and business partner Nicole Heydenrijk. Body FX is New Zealand’s leading make-up company, providing body art, face painting and special FX for an increasing variety of occasions.

If you would like to see Yolanda and Body FX in action, come along to this years NZ Body Art Awards, held at the Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland on October 2nd.
