The Kymera Wand

(PR.co.nz) The critically acclaimed Kymera Wand is the latest cool gadget to be sold exclusively in New Zealand by online gift company Giftbob.co.nz.

The Wand understands 13 different movement “gestures”. Each of which can learn and replay the remote control function from any button on almost any existing infra-red (IR) remote control. All of which means that the Kymera Wand can be used not just for changing channels on your TV but for controlling hi-fis, DVD players, iPod docks, Apple Macs, Powerpoint presentations and even remote-controlled light switches and curtains!

Developed by two English inventors – Chris Barnardo and Richard Blakesly, the Kymera Wand is the latest consumer gadget to employ emerging motion detection technology.

“Essentially we set out to design a magic wand that uses modern remote control technology to give the user a magical experience.” Says Barnado. “The result not only delivers a magical experience but it is the first gesture based remote control that doesn’t have any buttons” Barnardo adds.

Both the Wand and the packaging have been carefully designed to be part of the fantasy experience. Packaged in a chic black box, the elegant wand is cradled in luxurious silk brocade and it comes with an instruction manual which looks like something straight out of a wizard’s tower.

The Wand has been enormously successful in the UK and across Europe and has been recently featured on the UK’s Dragon’s Den (23 August 2010), where the inventors secured a record investment http://www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden/entrepreneurs/richardblakesley.shtml and BBC2’s “Something for the Weekend”. It was ‘Gadget of the Week’ in The Independent on Sunday and has featured in The Times, Metro, The Sun and numerous other high-profile publications.

Available at Gifbob.co.nz for $129 including GST – the Wand would make a fantastically unique gift idea for just about anyone that enjoys gadgetry or wizardry.
