(PR.co.nz) Media Titles Group Ltd has sold the iconic title Rugby News, along with its other print and digital consumer rugby publications, to Auckland based publisher Mark Calverley.
The well-known brand Rugby News will be adopted as his flagship company which will trade as NZ RUGBY NEWS LTD. The other publication under this umbrella is Australia’s 2004 Magazine of the Year, Australian Rugby News & Review. Calverley intends developing collaborative relationships based on the strong connections both publications and he has with schools and junior rugby as well as the domestic competitions, often ignored by mainstream press. “With a solid subscriber base, especially in the growing digital marketplace, there are significant opportunities to both develop the current products and have them underpin new brand extensions” Calverley stated.
Margaret Mitchell, managing director of Media Titles is currently retained to afford a seamless transition of the titles.
Media Titles have retained the 43 years of weekly archives along with the URL rugby.co.nz. “Plans are underway to capitalise on the strength and depth of the content and the valuable website URL with several enterprises expressing interest looking ahead to the Rugby World Cup 2015” stated Mitchell.
