(PR.co.nz) Unlike its rounded predecessors ‘Sneaky Weasel’, the debut album from Wellington jazz trio ‘Ben Wilcock and The Jelly Rolls’, is the first (in NZ) to be released as an ultra-modern USB credit-card.
Sneaky Weasel will be released online August 1st 2014.
The album launch party is to be held at The Black Sparrow August 14th 2014, 8pm
The ‘Sneaky Weasel’ USB credit-card album will take you back in time in futuristic fashion, with your choice of WAVs and MP3s, alongside a delectable garnish of liner notes; and toe-tapping compositional duties have been divvied up between the Hamiltronian B.Wilcock, and American buccaneers F.Waller, D.Ellington and C.Porter.
Alongside the Jelly Rolls on selected tracks appear celebrated kiwi musicians:
Colin Hemmingsen (NZSO) on bass clarinet and Nick Tipping (The JAC) on double bass.
The Jelly Rolls are:
Ben Wilcock – Hamilton born, Stokes Valley resident who mixes Harlem Stride, Boogie Woogie and the influences of piano greats Errol Garner, Fats Waller and Ahmad Jamal.
John Rae – hailing form Edinburgh, the Troubles’ drummer who draws on his worldwide experience from playing on over 40 albums.
Dan Yeabsley – Wellingtonian bassist from the iconic Wellington jazz trio Twinset.
