Revolutionary new approach to our growing obesity epidemic

(PR.co.nz) Many of us are eating too much junk, not getting enough exercise and getting fat. Over eating contributes to premature death, serious diseases and increased health costs.

We all know that we should eat less and exercise more, and we start our new regimes each January with great intentions. But it’s a well documented fact that these intentions very quickly fall by the wayside.

Most times the solutions you hear from tabloid media and TV shows are…Don’t Eat Carbs!, Eat More Protein!, Work out Harder!, Feel The Burn! etc. But in reality only 1 of every 10 people who start down this track actually succeed. The reason is because these only tell half the story.

The other half of the story is mindset.

Having the right mindset will help you to start and keep going. The right mindset will help you take the knock backs and disappointments on the chin and start all over again …and to stay consistent through thick and thin.

“For many years we’ve struggled to keep our clients motivated and on track long term with their diets and lifestyle changes”, Claire Dobson owner of True Women’s Fitness and Well-Being says. “During the course of 2013 we completed a study into exercise and motivation in conjunction with Tamasin Taylor from University of Auckland”, Claire continues. “This study provided many proofs to our theories about maintaining motivation through having the correct mindset. Our main aim is to address not only exercise and nutritional prescription, but also the underlying psychological issues that prevent people from achieving their weight loss and exercise goals.”

Now, True Women’s Fitness and Well-Being in Manukau has teamed up with Dr Jutta Humpfer to provide a unique solution to this problem – the “Escape Your Weight” program.

Jutta is a clinical psychologist and has as special interest in the psychology of weight loss. “In my experience Kiwis are reluctant to see psychologists because of the stigma attached and also the cost involved. That’s why during the “Escape Your Weight Program” we will not be spending vast amount of time on psycho-analysing people or regressing them to childhood or anything like that!”
Jutta says.

“We will instead be providing real life, practical tools and learning for people and this will all be delivered in a non-threatening group scenario. In our program we teach such skills as – why the wrong mindset inevitably ends in failure, how to eliminate dieting fads and yo-yo diets, how to succeed with any sensible diet and how to maintain a healthy weight forever. We deliver the program in one hour sessions, once a week for 6 weeks. Everything we offer here is educational, it is not intended as psychological therapy.” explains Jutta.

The “Escape your Weight” program and starts at True Women’s Fitness and Well-Being on Feb 24th .
The official launch of this brand new and unique weight loss solution takes place on Feb 10th with a seminar at the club. The subject of the seminar is “How to Resist Cravings and Overeating” and was chosen by the members of True in a poll that asked them; “what is the number 1 factor that they are struggling with right now”.

To book your place in either the introductory seminar (at 6:45pm on the 10th Feb) or the 6 week workshop (starting 24th Feb) please contact True Woman’s Fitness and Well-Being on 09 262 0055.
