Minister to represent NZ at Education World Forum

Education Minister Anne Tolley will travel to London for the Education World Forum 2011 and the British Education Training and Technology (BETT) expo.

Thanks to Schools and Staff Following Canterbury Earthquake

Education Minister Anne Tolley has thanked principals, teachers, board members, students and Ministry of Education staff in Canterbury as they work to get schools up and running. The majority of schools will be open on Monday, but a few have structural problems.

Tertiary Education Following Earthquake

Tertiary providers in Canterbury have been significantly impacted by the Canterbury Earthquake. At this stage CPIT and Lincoln University will reopen on Monday 13 September, Te Wananga o Aotearoa will reopen at the Moorhouse Avenue campus on Monday 13 September, and Canterbury University will reopen to students on Wednesday 15 September and will resume teaching on Monday 20 September.

Schools after Canterbury Earthquake

Most schools in Canterbury will remain closed until Monday. School buildings need to be checked to insure there are structurally sound and safe, then Boards of Trustees need to make health and safety decisions, clean up, and prepare for lessons.

Ministry of Education to Increase Efficiency

Government has asked the Ministry of Education to increase efficiency and focus on support for schools and ECE services, with less National Office bureaucracy.
