th’ink & ARTIVIST : creative are now preparing for the paste up event on the 14th October 2011 in the Taupō CBD… the location will be revealed soon as consideration is being made for the fantastic support from the Taupō Library & Museum & the various individual artists & administrators involved in the project.

An international street art action is scheduled to make a mark on Taupo in October. The Inside Out Project Taupo is a group submission by Taupo based street art organisation ARTIVIST.

2010 and the start of 2011 have been incredible for Scouting in Taupo. More and more young people are realising the benefit of joining our Movement and are experiencing the vast range of fantastic opportunities that we have to offer.

Taupo Museum is setting some new boundaries with two impressive exhibitions. The exhibitions involve fine art shows from Tuwharetoa artists, specialist artists talks and installations: Nga Hauwahine e Whitu (our seven sisters) and Nga Mata Kaka (beacons of light). The two shows feature some of the highest achievers in contemporary Maori art.

Mangakino experienced a unique and exciting event in WAKEdUP. 800 audience – intimate & with a positive feeling the crowd loved every aspect of the event except some trouble from a minority.

Enterprise Lake Taupō, Taupō District Council and Occam Consulting are providing the opportunity for local companies interested in doing business with the Chinese, to attend a workshop to get ideas on how to create business opportunities in this swiftly developing country.

The Great Lake Taupō Cultural Festival; a two-day multi-cultural event at the Unison Amphitheatre this Waitangi weekend, will be a haven of delicious ethnic foods and locally produced wines according to organisers.

A request for support from local BMX champion Jed Mildon, to look at building a new jump track at Spa Park, has received a very favourable response from Council. Jed Mildon, a local BMX champion is keen to get a BMX dirt track established to promote the sport to young people in the district.

Three world class rowing teams, from Poland, Holland and Switzerland, are competing in the 2010 World Rowing Championships later this month at Lake Karapiro and are basing themselves in the Taupō district.
