A new survey has shown that when it comes to spreading Christmas cheer, Kiwis will spend more on their dogs than their partners.

Air New Zealand’s “Kids at Christmas charity auction” kicks off this week, aiming to raise more than $400,000 for children’s charities. The auction is offering some special “money can’t buy” items, in addition to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of airfares, accommodation and travel packages.

Telecom has teamed up with the Christchurch City Council, City Mission and Christchurch Cathedral to bring some festive cheer to the city centre with plans to unveil dedicated Santaline phone boxes at a public ceremony on the evening of Thursday 9 December.

More than 70,000 hopeful children (and adults!) have already called Telecom’s Santaline on 0800 222 222 to ensure their wish lists are received by the North Pole in time for the big day. The nationwide toll free line, direct to Santa, has been running red hot since it opened on 27 November.
