Andrea Martinisi placed 2nd at the ASI Association of Sommeliers Asia-Oceania Competition in Tokyo. This competition is the most important international event for wine and beverage professionals working in restaurants and hotels in Asia and Oceania. Held every three years, 24 candidates from 13 countries lined up for the 2022 contest.

Canterbury Team wins National Wine Tasting Competition

The NZ National Wine Tasting Competition was a tightly contested race with the top score going to the Canterbury team testing memory and tasting ability of each team of four. The FINAL of the NZ Sommeliers and Wine Professionals Competition was held in Auckland with 10 teams competing from around New Zealand.

NZ Sommeliers Triumph

The New Zealand Sommelier of the Year 2018 has been won by Marek Przyborek of Huami Restaurant at Sky City. The title was announced by Head Judge Cameron Douglas MS at the New Zealand Sommelier and Wine Professionals Awards Dinner earlier this week. In a close-run competition, Andrea Martinisi from the Grove and Baduzzi Restaurants in Auckland and Maciej Zimny from Noble Rot in Wellington were runners-up.

Cromwell’s Walking Wine Trail a Runaway Success

Over the three months that the 4 Barrels Walking Wine Trail has been operating, hundreds of people armed with a trail map have embarked on the picturesque 8-kilometre loop which weaves around Lake Dunstan, past local orchards and vineyards and to four of Cromwell’s premium Tasting Rooms. The wine trail, the first of its kind in Central Otago, was developed by four Cromwell based wine producers; Aurum Wines, Misha’s Vineyard, Scott Base and Wooing Tree Vineyard.
