There is no amount of classroom learning that can prepare someone for the physical and mental demands of some jobs; confined spaces, working at heights, fire, and hazard detection for example. Traditionally this type of training has had to be undertaken on the job – until now.
Until October 2017, drivers of small passenger service vehicles, such as taxis, had to complete a
training course to obtain a P (passenger) endorsement.
Over 1900 drivers were fined by police for logbook infringements in 2017. A new online course aims to bring down the cost of complying with logbook and work time rules.
The NZ Defence Force, a number of group training organisations and Industry Training Organisations have created the Kiwi Co-Host Scheme which will provide a safety-net to apprentices by encouraging them to join the Reserve Forces – a new initiative flowing from the Prime Minister’s Job Summit.
