Anzac Day is our day to honour those who fought in the 1915 battle of Gallipoli and all New Zealanders who have given their lives since, in defence of our country and our freedom. There are a number of services being held throughout Waikato district on Monday 25 April 2011:

30 Local Artists Opening Studios for 6th Annual Great Coromandel Arts Tour

For three weekends in May, 30 Coromandel artists will open their studios to the public for the 6th annual Great Coromandel Arts Tour. The annual open studio event, which includes artists from Thames at the base of the Peninsula, Coromandel Town and right up to the remote settlement of Colville, is a unique opportunity to meet local artists, find wonderful hidden art studios and get a taste of the creative process first hand.

Juror Privacy and Safety Increased

Justice Minister Simon Power has introduced the Juries Amendment Bill, which includes a provision to remove the addresses of potential jurors from jury panel lists. The bill also addresses other concerns regarding who can serve on juries.
