Wellington Terrace Tunnel Closure

From Monday (6 December) until September next year, the Terrace Tunnel will be closed most nights between 8.00pm and 6.00am. The New Zealand Transport Agency is upgrading the tunnel’s operating systems to the latest standards, and will work overnight to minimise disruption to traffic.

Wellington Santa Parade 2010

He’s travelling half the world to be here – Santa Claus himself is coming to town to kick off this year’s Christmas countdown with the Santa Parade on Sunday 14 November in Wellington. Wellington City Council Events Manager Lauren Fantham says about 60,000 people are expected to head along to the parade this year.

Wellington City Mayoral Result Waiting Special Vote Count

Mayor Kerry Prendergast has an election night lead of 40 votes over Celia Wade-Brown, but it won’t be known who’s won the race until special votes have been processed. Some 960 special votes were issued. The result may not be known until Wednesday.

Japan Festival of Wellington 2010

The second Japan Festival of Wellington is being held at the Town Hall on Sunday, 5th September 2010. Come and enjoy an afternoon of Japanese entertainers, food, crafts, and culture. The Festival will include a traditional Chin Don-Ya busking group from Osaka, karate and judo demonstrations, a tea ceremony performance, Taiko drumming, folk dancers, a Japanese anime film and even a children’s choir.
